Why is it called a royale with cheese in France?
The phrase "royale with cheese" is not a French term and doesn't exist in French cuisine. It's a fictionalized term made popular by the 1994 film *Pulp Fiction*, where the character Jules Winnfield orders a "Royale with cheese" in a French diner.
There's no real-life equivalent of this dish in France, and the term itself is a play on the word "royal" with an added "cheese" to create a nonsensical but memorable phrase.
