How to Freeze Blue Cheese
Aged, mold-laden blue cheese is versatile and flavor-enhancing. Blue cheese is perfect in salads, pasta dishes, breads, vegetables and even desserts. And though it doesn’t seem as if cheese aged in a damp cave would take well to your freezer, blue cheese is easy to freeze. It freezes quite well, too, which means that you can have it on hand whenever you need it.
Things You'll Need
- Knife
- Plastic wrap
- Freezer paper
- Heavy-duty freezer bags
Instructions
-
Remove blue cheese from its original packaging.
-
Slice the blue cheese into half-pound pieces.
-
Wrap each piece tightly in plastic wrap.
-
Wrap each plastic-wrapped piece in freezer paper.
-
Place the wrapped pieces into heavy-duty freezer bags. Label and date the bags.
-
Store the bags in your freezer at no higher than 0 degrees F. Blue cheese frozen properly will keep indefinitely, but for the best quality use it within six months.
