Are cheese mites in all cheeses?

Cheese mites are not present in all cheeses, but they can be found in some types of aged or ripened cheeses, particularly those that have a rind. These mites are tiny creatures that feed on the surface of the cheese, contributing to its flavor and texture. However, it's important to note that the presence of cheese mites does not necessarily indicate spoilage or pose a health risk. Some cheesemakers even introduce them intentionally to enhance the flavor and characteristics of their cheeses.
