What are blonde brownies?

Blonde brownies have a similar, but different, taste and composition to normal chocolate brownies.

1. Flour: Blonde brownies are made with all-purpose flour giving them a soft and chewy texture. Chocolate brownies are made with a combination of all-purpose flour and cocoa powder, which gives them a richer and denser texture.

2. Sugar: Blonde brownies use brown sugar, which gives them a deep caramelized flavor. Chocolate brownies are typically made with white sugar which, while still sweet, has a more neutral taste.

3. Butter: Blonde brownies use considerably more butter than chocolate brownies. This gives them a richer, fattier flavor, more like shortbread, and a fudgy, almost dough-like texture.

4. Chocolate: Blonde brownies do not contain any cocoa powder, they get all of their flavor from the browned butter. Chocolate brownies, of course, contain a fair bit of cocoa powder.

5. Baking powder: Whereas chocolate brownies use baking powder to give them their cake-like texture, blonde brownies use baking soda. This leads to a much chewier texture.
