Why do members of food collecting societies not own land individually?
In food-collecting societies, the main source of sustenance is gathering wild food. The land cannot be owned individually because the individuals within these groups are constantly migrating to find new food sources. It is impractical for them to establish permanent settlements and claim ownership of specific land areas.
