What country does sandwich come from?

The sandwich, as we know it today, originates from England.

While the exact origin story is debated, the name comes from John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich (1718-1792). He was known for his love of gambling and would often spend hours at the gaming tables. To avoid leaving the game to eat, he requested his servants to bring him meat between two slices of bread.

This convenient way of eating became known as "a sandwich" in honor of the Earl.
