How does food get to the truck?

There are a few ways that food gets to the truck.

* From a distribution center. Most food that is sold in grocery stores and restaurants comes from a distribution center. Distribution centers are large warehouses where food is stored and then shipped out to stores and restaurants. Food is typically delivered to distribution centers by truck or train.

* From a farm. Some food that is sold in grocery stores and restaurants comes directly from farms. This is especially true for fresh produce and meat. Farmers may deliver their food to grocery stores and restaurants themselves, or they may sell it to a food distributor.

* From a food processor. Food processors are companies that take raw food and turn it into finished products. For example, a food processor might take wheat and turn it into flour, or it might take milk and turn it into cheese. Food processors typically sell their products to grocery stores and restaurants.

Once the food is at the truck, it is typically loaded into the truck by a forklift or a conveyor belt. The truck driver then drives the truck to the grocery store or restaurant.
