How to Make Sesame Paste (8 Steps)

Sesame Paste is used in many foods and can be home-made quite easily. Here are a few steps to having good quality homemade goods. If you want more or less, simply adjust the amount of ingredients. It is also known by another name, Tahini.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 cup of sesame seeds
  • 1 cup of olive oil
  • Oven
  • Baking Sheet
  • Blender or small processor

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. First, place the sesame seeds on a baking sheet and spread them all over so that none are touching each other.

  3. Place the baking sheet with the sesame seeds into the oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until they release a pleasant smell.

  4. When the sesame seeds are done toasting, remove them from the oven and allow to cool.

  5. When the seeds have cooled, place them into the blender.

  6. Add the olive oil.

  7. Blend until it becomes a thick paste.

  8. You now have sesame paste or tahini. Congratulations. Store it in the fridge for only up to a couple of weeks.
