How to Use a Wine Opener (5 Steps)
Opening a bottle of wine is much easier when you have a wine opener. Figuring out how to use one for the first time took me a minute of observation, but it really is a very simple process.
Things You'll Need
- Corkscrew
- Corked wine bottle
Instructions
-
Hold the wine bottle securely and remove any foil wrapped around the neck of the bottle.
-
Open the corkscrew up by raising the arms straight up, which will expose the corkscrew spiral.
-
Keeping the arms up on the opener and a firm grip on the wine bottle, securely insert the tip of the corkscrew spiral into the center of the cork.
-
Continuing to hold the bottle securely, twist the corkscrew down into the cork using the lever at the top of the opener.
-
Being careful not to tip the bottle over, bring both arms of the opener slowly and firmly down. Doing so will bring the corkscrew and the attached cork up.
