How do you harvest a pumpkin?
1. Choose the right time:Pumpkins are ready for harvest when the rind is hard and the vine has started to turn brown and wither. The skin will also be a deep orange color, and the stem will be dry and easily removed.
2. Cut the pumpkin from the vine:Use a sharp knife to cut the stem of the pumpkin, leaving about an inch of stem attached. Be careful not to damage the pumpkin when cutting it from the vine.
3. Handle the pumpkin carefully:Pumpkins are heavy, so be careful when lifting them. Hold them by the stem to avoid damaging them.
4.Cure the pumpkin:Curing helps to harden the pumpkin's rind and improve its flavor. Place the pumpkin in a warm, dry place with good air circulation for about 10-14 days.
5.Store the pumpkin:Once cured, pumpkins can be stored in a cool, dry place for up to several months.
