What is corona radiate?

The corona radiata is a part of the human brain composed of white matter tracts that connect specific areas of the cerebral cortex (e.g., prefrontal cortex) to subcortical areas such as the basal ganglia and thalamus.

It consists of axons, or the elongated portions of neurons transmitting information away from their cell bodies, which appear white due to a protective fatty layer called myelin covering them. The corona radiata helps integrate various brain regions, enabling communication and the efficient flow of information between cortical and subcortical structures, which support numerous neurological functions
