Is lobster the same as crayfish?
Lobsters and crayfish are both crustaceans, but they are not the same. Here's why:
* Classification: While both belong to the order Decapoda (ten-legged crustaceans), lobsters are in the infraorder Astacidea, while crayfish are in the infraorder Astacidea.
* Habitat: Lobsters primarily live in saltwater environments, while crayfish are mostly found in freshwater.
* Size: Lobsters are generally much larger than crayfish.
* Appearance: Lobsters have larger claws, a prominent rostrum (beak), and a more flattened body. Crayfish have smaller claws, a less prominent rostrum, and a more cylindrical body.
* Diet: Both are omnivorous, but lobsters are known to be more predatory.
Essentially, lobsters and crayfish are different species with distinct physical characteristics, habitats, and lifestyles.
