How do you make salt water for your hermit crab?

- 1 gallon of distilled water

- 1 tablespoon of Instant Ocean sea salt mix

Instructions:

1. Mix the salt and water. Add 1 tablespoon of Instant Ocean sea salt mix to 1 gallon of distilled water.

2. Stir until the salt is dissolved. Make sure that all of the salt has dissolved before you add the hermit crabs to the water.

3. Test the salinity of the water. The salinity of the water should be between 35 and 40 ppt (parts per thousand). You can test the salinity of the water with a hydrometer, specific gravity meter or salinity refractometer.

4. Add the hermit crabs to the water. Once the salt is dissolved and the salinity of the water is correct, you can add the hermit crabs to the water.

Tips:

- Always use distilled water to make saltwater for your hermit crab. Tap water contains chlorine and other chemicals that can harm hermit crabs.

- Use the correct amount of sea salt mix. Too much salt will make the water too salty and can kill hermit crabs, while too little salt will not provide enough minerals.

- Test the salinity of the water regularly. The salinity of the water can evaporate over time, so it's important to test the salinity regularly and adjust it as needed.
