Why are mandibles removed last on a crayfish?
The mandibles are the last appendages removed from a crayfish because they are the most firmly attached. They are held in place by strong muscles and connective tissue, which must be carefully dissected away before the mandibles can be removed. If the mandibles are removed first, the crayfish will be unable to eat and will eventually die.
