What is a calling crab?

Male calling crabs have one enlarged claw that they use in a conspicuous mating ritual. Females observe these displays and select the males with the most impressive performances. Once a female approaches the male, they engage in a delicate "dance," with both waving and touching their claws together. If the female is satisfied with the male's performance, they will mate.
