How do tilapia fish care for their young?

Mouthbrooding:

- Most tilapia species practice a unique parenting technique called mouthbrooding.

- After hatching tilapia eggs , one of the parents (usually the female) takes some or all of the eggs into its mouth for protection and care.

- The parent's mouth provides a safe haven for these early life stages and keeps them close to a constant source of oxygen-rich water.

- The fish holds the eggs in its mouth until they've grown significantly to become free-swimming fry. They receive protection, oxygen, and parental care during this initial phase.
