How to Cook Drum Fish (8 Steps)
Drum fish are a mostly bottom-dwelling species of fish often found in shallow, tropical waters. These fish are popular as game as well as food. Often served as steaks, drum fish have a unique flavor. Like most fish meats, this flavor can be brought out by citrus flavors like lemon. Drum fish is baked at a medium heat to retain the moisture found in the meat.
Things You'll Need
- 2 lbs. drum steaks
- 1/2 c. French dressing
- 2 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 (32 oz.) can French fried onions
- 1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
- Chef's knife
- Shallow pan
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Cut the drum fish steaks to an appropriate serving size.

Set the drum fish in a shallow baking pan.

Mix together 1/2 a cup of French dressing, two tablespoons of lemon juice and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.

Pour the mixture on top of the steaks in the pan and let the fish rest for 15 minutes.

Flip the steaks over in the marinade and allow them to rest for another 15 minutes.

Sprinkle French fried onions and Parmesan cheese on top of the steaks.

Bake the dish for 25-30 minutes and serve.
