How to Take Make Ginger Tea with Powdered Ginger

Ginger tea is one of the most effective and comforting remedies for coughs, colds and flu.


Not only does this tea help break up mucus, ginger helps to stimulate perspiration and warms the body from the inside. Ginger also is effective for soothing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Zinc is a very potent mineral for boosting the immune system and ginger is very high in zinc.


Fresh ginger is typically used to make therapeutic ginger tea, but if no fresh ginger is available powdered ginger works fine also.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 crushed cardamom
  • 1 crushed clove
  • Pestle and mortar
  • Cinnamon stick to taste
  • 3/4 teaspoon powdered ginger
  • Bay leaf (optional)
  • Honey to taste (optional)
  • Ceramic mug or tea cup

Instructions

  1. Finely grind the cardamom and clove with the pestle and mortar. Place in ceramic mug. Add powdered ginger, cinnamon stick and bay leaf (if using).

    Bring water to a full boil.

  2. Pour boiling water over ingredients and steep for 5 minutes.

    Remove the bay leaf but leave the cinnamon stick in the tea. Add honey if desired.

  3. Drink while hot. Repeat as desired for relief of cold symptoms.
