How to Make Honeydew Bubble Tea (3 Steps)
Creamy and full of tiny, jelly-like morsels, bubble tea is sure to tickle any palette. Bubble tea originated in Taiwan but is rapidly gaining worldwide popularity. As bubble tea reaches other continents, cultures adapt bubble teas to their own, regional flavors. Flavor options for bubble tea are unlimited, however fruit-based bubble teas are most common. For a refreshing, summertime drink, make bubble tea with fresh honeydew.
Things You'll Need
- Bobo or tapioca pearls
- Pot with lid
- Honeydew
- Orange juice
- Milk or coconut milk
- Honey
- Ice
- Blender or cocktail shaker
- Large glasses
- Extra-wide straws
- Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions
-
Measure 1/2 cup of bobo or tapioca pearls per drink. Bring seven times the amount of water to a boil in a pot. Add the pearls gradually. Turn the heat to medium and cook for 15 minutes. Remove and cover the pot. Leave the pearls to sit for 15 minutes. Drain the water with a strainer and run the pearls under cool water.
-
Place honeydew, orange juice, milk (dairy or coconut), honey and ice cubes in a blender. For each drink use 3/4 cup melon, 1/3 cup orange juice, 1/4 cup milk, 2 tbsp. honey, and 3 to 4 ice cubes. Blend to a fine puree. Optionally, bubble tea can be "on the rocks" with these ingredients shaken in a cocktail shaker rather than blended.
-
Pour the pearls into the bottoms of large glasses. Pour the blended ingredients on top. Serve with extra-wide straws. Whipped cream is optional.
