Does tic-tacs and coke react the same way as Mentos coke?

Tic-Tacs and Mentos do not produce the same reaction with Coca-Cola or other carbonated beverages. While both can cause a fizzy reaction when dropped in a carbonated drink, the eruptions differ.

Mentos: Mentos have a unique surface structure that creates numerous nucleation sites for carbon dioxide bubbles to form rapidly, resulting in a dramatic eruption and geyser effect. The gum arabic in Mentos also contains pectin, which acts as a surfactant, reducing the surface tension of the liquid and allowing bubbles to form more quickly and easily.

Tic-Tacs: Tic-Tacs have a smoother surface compared to Mentos, resulting in fewer nucleation sites and a less intense reaction with carbonated beverages. They mostly cause a fizzing effect on the surface of the drink, with smaller and less powerful eruptions compared to Mentos.

Therefore, the reaction between Tic-Tacs and Coke is not equivalent to the reaction between Mentos and Coke, and the intensity of the eruption differs significantly.
