Is carbonated beverage an a liquid gas solution?

Carbonated beverages are liquid-gas solutions because they contain dissolved carbon dioxide gas in a liquid base, usually water. When carbon dioxide is dissolved in water under pressure, it forms carbonic acid, which gives carbonated beverages their tart flavor and distinctive fizz.

However, at ambient pressure, dissolved carbon dioxide in water creates carbonic acid which then breaks down back into carbon dioxide gas. This makes the liquid bubbly or effervescent and releases an enjoyable fizzing as bubbles pop upon opening their packaging material that the liquid is stored in.
