Where does Shreveport get their drinking water from?

The Shreveport Water Department (SWD) operates three water treatment plants that provide drinking water for the city of Shreveport, Louisiana, and surrounding areas. The plants draw water from the Red River, which is a major tributary of the Mississippi River. The SWD treats the water using a variety of processes including, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection to remove impurities and ensure the water is safe for consumption. The SWD also maintains a network of water storage tanks and distribution pipes to deliver the treated water to customers throughout the city.
