How to Make Homemade Flavored Vodka (5 Steps)
Flavored vodka has been around for centuries. Some of the first flavorings added were ginger and cloves. You can also make your own flavored vodka with apple, strawberries, lemon, lime and other fruits. Use mid- to high-quality alcohol to ensure your homemade flavored vodka tastes its best.
Things You'll Need
- Knife
- Fruit
- Spices
- Food storage container
- Cheesecloth
- Rubber band
- Bottle
Instructions
-
Wash the fruit and then peel and cut it into 1- to 2-inch chunks. Cut whole spices, such as ginger, into workable pieces.
-
Place the fruit chunks and any desired spices into a large food storage container that has a tight-fitting lid. Pour vodka into the container until all the fruit is submerged.
-
Put the lid on the plastic container and store in a dark, cool place. Shake the container each morning to evenly distribute the infusions from the fruit and spices.
-
Soak the fruit for two weeks and then remove the lid to the container. Place a piece of cheesecloth on top the container and secure it in place with a rubber band.
-
Pour the flavor-infused vodka out of the container, through the cheesecloth and into a clean bottle. The cheesecloth acts as a strainer and prevents the fruits and spices from going into the bottle. Cap the bottle until ready to use.
