How to Make Lemon Infused Vodka

Lemon infused vodka is very easy to make and can be used to spruce up and add a unique taste to a number of cocktails--or can be consumed over ice by itself. When added to classic summer cocktails like the Madras, Cape Codder and Tropics, lemon infused vodka can add a distinctly different touch. When used to prepare a vodka martini, the lemon infused vodka adds a wonderful fruit taste that is strong but not overwhelming. This recipe makes one 750 ml bottle of lemon infused vodka.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 cups Meyer lemons, washed and very thinly sliced
  • Large pitcher with top
  • 750 ml good quality vodka
  • Plastic wrap (optional)
  • Clean 750 ml bottle
  • Reusable coffee filter
  • Paper or plastic label

Instructions

  1. Put the washed and thinly sliced Meyer lemons into a large pitcher and add the vodka. Cover the pitcher with a tight-fitting top or plastic wrap.

  2. Store the vodka in a cool, dark place for 21 days. Shake the pitcher gently for 10 to 15 seconds daily.

  3. Strain the Meyer lemon pieces through a re-usable coffee filter, catching the vodka in a clean 750 ml bottle.

  4. Place a paper or plastic label on the battle to identify that it is lemon infused vodka. Place a date on the bottle immediately.
