Why is alcohol a droog?
The word "droog" is used in the novel "A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess to refer to a member of a gang of delinquent teenagers. The word is an old Russian term for "friend" and is used in the novel to create a sense of camaraderie among the gang members. Alcohol is never referred to as a droog in the novel.
