How to Roast Pineapple
Roasted pineapple is a great, easy dessert that can be simple, light and refreshing or sweet and spicy, depending on the marinade you use. It is often served with Asian food, but can accompany a variety of different dishes. Serve slices of roasted pineapple with ice cream, sorbet or yogurt; alternatively, serve it by itself for a light and sweet conclusion to a meal.
Things You'll Need
- Pineapple or pineapple slices
- Large serrated knife
- Baking tray
- Parchment paper
- Brown sugar
- Orange juice
- Honey
- Brush
- Mixing bowl
Instructions
-
Peel your pineapple and cut it into slices using a large, serrated knife. Alternatively, use pre-sliced pineapple to give even, uniform sizes and save time on cutting.
-
Place a lining of parchment paper around the inside of a baking tray. Preheat your oven to 450 Fahrenheit.
-
Mix equal amounts of orange juice and brown sugar together with a little honey in a mixing bowl. Stir it to dissolve the sugar, creating an even glaze. Add the pineapple slices to the mixture and leave them to marinate for 10 minutes. Make sure that the pineapple slices are thoroughly and evenly covered by the marinade.
-
Transfer the pineapple slices to the baking tray, spacing them evenly. Place into the oven and roast for 15 minutes, turning them over halfway through. Keep an eye on the slices during roasting. If they seem to be drying out, brush on more marinade.
-
Remove the slices from the oven and serve them. You can serve roasted pineapple with something cool and sweet like vanilla ice cream or with a complementary flavor like pineapple or mango sorbet.
