How do you make pastillas candy?
How to Make Pastillas Candy:
Yields: About 100 pastillas
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
* 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
* 1/2 cup evaporated milk
* 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/4 cup sugar (optional, for dusting)
* Food coloring (optional)
Equipment:
* Large saucepan
* Wooden spoon
* Parchment paper
* Rolling pin
* Small bowl (for dusting sugar)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Pan: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Combine Ingredients: In a large saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and flour. Stir until well combined.
3. Cook: Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan. This should take about 15-20 minutes.
4. Add Flavoring: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in vanilla extract. You can also add food coloring at this point, if desired.
5. Cool and Shape: Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it out evenly to about 1/4 inch thick. Allow to cool completely.
6. Roll: Once cooled, use a rolling pin to roll the mixture into a thin sheet. Cut the sheet into squares, diamonds, or any desired shape using a knife.
7. Dust: Dust the pastillas with sugar, if desired.
8. Store: Store the pastillas in an airtight container at room temperature.
Tips:
* If you want a more intense flavor, you can add a pinch of salt or a teaspoon of coffee powder to the mixture.
* To make colorful pastillas, divide the cooked mixture into smaller batches and add different food colors to each batch.
* If the mixture is too thick, you can add a tablespoon of milk at a time until it reaches the desired consistency.
* If the mixture is too thin, you can continue to cook it until it thickens.
Enjoy your delicious homemade pastillas!
