What is sugar soap made from?

Sugar soap or sugar scrub (UK usage), is a household cleaning paste with a texture much like that of peanut butter. It is an abrasive used for cleaning dirt around a home, and is particularly effective at removing grease. Sugar soap is made by mixing one part of water with two parts of a soap-based detergent. To thicken it to the consistency of a paste, a small amount of baking soda may be added to the mixture. The paste can be used on the same surface as scouring powder.
