How do you make Hot Tamales Candy?

Ingredients

* 3 cups sugar

* 1/2 cup light corn syrup

* 1/2 cup water

* 1/4 cup white vinegar

* 1 teaspoon cinnamon

* 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

* 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

* 1/8 teaspoon salt

* 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

* 2 tablespoons red food coloring

* 1 tablespoon clear vanilla extract

* 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar

Instructions

1. In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, water, vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, salt, and cayenne pepper. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sugar has completely dissolved.

2. Remove from heat and stir in the food coloring and vanilla extract. Let cool for 5 minutes.

3. Pour the mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Let cool for 1 hour, or until firm.

4. Cut the candy into 1 inch squares. Roll each square in confectioners' sugar to coat.

5. Store the candy in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 2 weeks.
