How to Make Matzo Toffee (9 Steps)

Things You'll Need

  • 3 pieces of matzo: 2 whole, 1 broken into 3 pieces to fit on baking sheet
  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 ¼ cup pecan or walnut pieces
  • 1 12oz bag chocolate chips
  • Baking sheet
  • Oven

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Use aluminum foil to line baking sheet and coat with spray; place matzo on pan.

  3. Melt butter and brown sugar in small sauce pan and simmer for 2 minutes.

  4. Pour over matzo and spread evenly.

  5. Bake 6 minutes; add nuts and chocolate chips.

  6. Bake another 1-2 minutes, long enough to melt the chocolate chips. Spread the melted chocolate evenly on the matzo.

  7. Place baking sheet in freezer for at least 30 minutes.

  8. Remove pan from freezer and break the freshly made toffee into delicious bite-size pieces.
