How to Store Shredded Coconut
Coconut is a versatile fruit that can be used in a variety of recipes, including tropical drinks and desserts or exotic soups and sauces. If you purchase sweetened, packaged shredded coconut that has been dried, it should store well in a Ziploc bag in your pantry for several months. However, the method you will use for storing fresh shredded coconut that is not sweetened is slightly different, as it has no preservatives and is more likely to spoil faster.
Things You'll Need
- Airtight container
- Towel or paper towel
Instructions
-
Pat the shredded coconut dry to help prevent spoilage because of moisture.
-
Place the shredded coconut in an airtight container.
-
Place the container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For longer life, store the container in your freezer, where the coconut will keep for six months.
