Betty Crocker recipe for apple crisp?
Betty Crocker's Apple Crisp
This recipe is not directly from Betty Crocker, but it uses their classic recipe as a starting point and is a delicious and easy apple crisp.
Ingredients:
* Filling:
* 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 6 cups)
* 1/2 cup granulated sugar
* 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
* 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
* 1/4 cup water
* Topping:
* 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
* 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
* 1/2 cup rolled oats
* 1/4 cup butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare apples: In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and water. Toss to coat.
3. Make topping: In another bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, oats, and butter. Use your fingers or a pastry blender to rub the butter into the dry ingredients until mixture is crumbly.
4. Assemble: Pour the apple mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
5. Bake: Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
6. Serve: Let cool slightly before serving warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Tips:
* Use a variety of apples for different flavors and textures. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Fuji are all good choices.
* If the topping seems dry, you can add a tablespoon or two of melted butter to the crumb mixture.
* For a crispier topping, use quick-cooking oats instead of rolled oats.
* The apple crisp can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
Enjoy!
