How long does it take to brew Amstel Lager?

The brewing process for Amstel Lager takes approximately three weeks from start to finish. This includes the following steps:

1. Malting: The barley is soaked in water and allowed to germinate. This process activates the enzymes that will convert the starch in the barley into sugar.

2. Mashing: The germinated barley is mixed with hot water in a process called mashing. This step helps to break down the starches into sugars.

3. Lautering: The liquid from the mashing process, known as wort, is separated from the spent grain.

4. Boiling: The wort is boiled for approximately one hour with hops, which add bitterness, flavour, and aroma to the beer.

5. Cooling: The wort is cooled rapidly to a temperature appropriate for fermentation.

6. Fermentation: Yeast is added to the wort, and the fermentation process begins. During fermentation, the yeast converts the sugars into alcohol and carbon dioxide.

7. Maturation: The beer is left to mature for several weeks to allow the flavours to develop and mellow.

8. Filtration: The beer is filtered to remove any remaining sediment.

9. Packaging: The beer is packaged into bottles, cans, or kegs.
