Cauliflower can be cooked whole or broken up, depending on your preferences.
Cooking cauliflower whole
* Select a head of cauliflower that is compact and has evenly spaced florets.
* Trim the leaves and stem of the cauliflower.
* Rinse the cauliflower under cold water to remove any dirt or debris.
* Place the cauliflower in a large pot of salted water. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium and simmer the cauliflower for 10-12 minutes, or until it is tender. Drain the cauliflower.
Cooking cauliflower broken up
* Select a head of cauliflower that is compact and has evenly spaced florets.
* Trim the leaves and stem of the cauliflower.
* Rinse the cauliflower under cold water to remove any dirt or debris. Cut the cauliflower into florets.
* Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the cauliflower florets. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until crisp-tender.
* Drain the cauliflower and immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
* Drain the cauliflower and pat dry.
