Why is roasting a marshmallow considered conduction?
Roasting a marshmallow should actually be considered *convection*, not conduction.
Convection is the transfer of heat by the movement of a fluid when the heated fluid rises and the cooled fluid sinks.
In the case of roasting a marshmallow, the heat from the fire rises and directly transfers to the surface of the marshmallow, heating the marshmallow without direct contact.
