How to Drizzle Chocolate on Strawberries

Chocolate-drizzled strawberries are not only delicious on their own, they also can be an impressive garnish on cakes or other desserts. You can order chocolate-drizzled strawberries from gourmet food shops, but they can be pricey, and it is easy to to make them yourself and achieve similar results. When you embellish your own fresh strawberries, you can use exactly the type and amount of chocolate you want for a much lower price.

Things You'll Need

  • Fresh strawberries, preferably with the stems and leaves intact
  • Your favorite chocolate chips (milk, dark or white)
  • Glass bowl
  • Spoon
  • Plastic, sealable bag
  • Scissors
  • Microwave or stove
  • Waxed paper

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the strawberries. Leave the stems and leaves on if possible.

  2. Melt the chocolate in the microwave by placing the chocolate chips in a glass bowl and cooking on low power for 20 seconds. Stir the chocolate with the spoon to smooth. Keep repeating the heat-and-stir process until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth, but do not overcook.

  3. Spoon the melted chocolate into the plastic freezer bag. Squeeze the chocolate into one corner of the bag, and seal the bag.

  4. Snip the corner off of the plastic bag with scissors. The smaller the cut, the finer the drizzle will be.

  5. Place a sheet of waxed paper over a cookie sheet, and then place the strawberries on the pan. For the most even drizzling results, line the berries up neatly in rows. Gently squeeze the chocolate from the plastic bag over the berries, moving back and forth over the platter and to evenly coat all of the berries. Go quickly and steadily to avoid a wobbly or uneven drizzle.

  6. Allow the chocolate to set in the refrigerator for at least 15 to 20 minutes before transferring the berries to a serving dish or using as a garnish.
