How long does bread take to prove?
The time it takes for bread to proof depends on several factors, including the type of yeast, the temperature of the dough, and the humidity of the environment. Generally, bread made with active dry yeast will proof in about 1-2 hours at room temperature (around 70-75°F). Bread made with instant yeast will proof more quickly, usually within 30 minutes. Bread that is proofing in a warmer environment will proof more quickly than bread that is proofing in a cooler environment. The dough should double in size during proofing.
