What type of spoon is it safer to stir hot soup with metal or wood?

Wooden spoons are generally considered safer than metal spoons for stirring hot soup. Because metal is much better at conducting heat than wood, a metal spoon can get much hotter than a wooden spoon and possibly burn your hand or lips.
