Are buckeye nuts edible to humans?

Buckeye nuts are not edible to humans.

They contain a toxic substance called aesculin, which can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and even death if consumed in large quantities. While some animals can eat them, they should be avoided by humans.

The only exception is the yellow buckeye, which is sometimes used as a food source after extensive processing. However, this is not a common practice, and it's still important to be aware of the risks associated with buckeye nuts.
