How do you make a potato polarity indicator?
Materials:
- Potato
- Two copper wires
- Voltmeter
- Knife
Instructions:
1. Cut the potato in half.
2. Insert a copper wire into each half of the potato.
3. Connect the voltmeter to the copper wires.
4. Observe the voltmeter reading.
If the voltmeter reading is positive, the potato is positively charged. If the voltmeter reading is negative, the potato is negatively charged.
This experiment demonstrates that potatoes can generate electricity. The electricity is generated by the chemical reaction between the copper wires and the potato juice.
